gocampervan – UK campervan hire customer reviews

Thank you all for your campervan hire reviews.

Hi Kevin, We had a wonderful week in the camper with our 2 children (8 and 9) exploring Northumberland, Durham and North Yorkshire. Your customer service is fantastic with great communication from start to finish. The camper van was easy to drive, in excellent condition and had everything we could possibly need for our trip. The children had a great time and particularly enjoyed their beds in the roof – “just like a den!” The pick up from the airport and drop off to the airport was really appreciated. Overall a great experience and would thoroughly recommend gocampervan to anyone considering a campervan holiday in the UK. Regards, Brent, Anne, Sophie and Alex. Bristol.

Hi Kevin. A short review of our trip. This was our first experience of both camper van life and Northumberland, and the combination worked very well indeed. I think we made a good choice in hiring from Gocampervan. The whole process was easy and Kevin couldn’t have been more generous with his time and advice. After a smooth ride up on the train we were picked up from Newcastle station and whisked out of town to his base. After an efficient but thorough introduction to the van that would be our home for the next week we were off.  Easy to drive and well equipped the van itself was a joy. All the campsites were good, each with their particular strengths, and again, booking was easy. Northumberland is simply gorgeous, and we encountered open, friendly people everywhere we went. Recommended! Best wishes, Richard, London.

Thanks Kevin and Susan for a brilliant few days away in your hightop campervan. Particular thanks to Kevin for battling against the odds to get the van ready on time. We really enjoyed our holiday, despite the compact space we soon organised ourselves and learned the ‘campervan dance’ as we called it. The girls loved the space up top, being outdoors all day and then snuggling in bed after tea and watching a bit of a film before we went to sleep. It was a great introduction to campervanning for us, the van was spotless and everything in the van had been well considered making it easy to use and keep clean. Our 7 year old now wants to live in a campervan.  Rebecca & Matt, Newcastle.

Hi Kevin . We really enjoyed the van so much, it was fantastic trip, will never forget it. Me and Sally and the kids enjoyed staying all together in our small house. It was our first and sure it’s going to be repeated again with the same van. It had everything we needed, and everything was perfect. Thanks Kevin for giving me this chance. And I’m happy to put the review and the pic I’ve sent before. Thanks so much, Mohamed, Cumbria.

Hi Kevin & Susan, We loved our time in the camper van. We covered well over 600 hilly miles through Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria without problem. The van was comfy and easy to drive. It was a cosy living space for the four of us, but comfortable, clean, pleasant and well equipped. It was admired wherever we stayed. We enjoyed dealing with gocampervan. We found the service friendly, straightforward and efficient and everything went smoothly. Feel free to use the photos I tweeted. Thanks, Simon & Jill, Newcastle.

Dear Kevin and Susan, We had a safe and good journey back home and enjoy looking back on our three weeks holiday with your campervan: it was a wonderful way to explore. Our daughters (9 and 11) enjoyed sleeping in the top and it really felt like home to us: sitting at the table, eating, drinking, playing games, cooking. Everything we needed was available. Driving was easy because the van was not too big, even on the single lane roads. We would like to thank you for making this holiday possible and for your kindness and hospitality. Heddeke, Andreas, Leanne and Iske, Netherlands.

We had a great time in the little van – it was really comfy and convenient. It is really well set up and the few things we spotted which could make it even better you have already added – brilliant!  Your customer service is also amazing. Thanks again.  Jemma & Jeff,  NSW Australia. (11 x night hire)

My wife and I couldn’t be happier with the help and service we got from Kevin as well as the van we got from Go Campervan. We got married in August and hired a campervan for our Honeymoon as my wife wanted to visit the borders. We hired the smaller Citroën van which was ideal as there was only the two of us and I thought it would be easier to drive than the larger van. The van was great to drive and looked and felt like new with some added extras; it had upgraded rear suspension and a fantastic heating system installed by the owner (although we only used it a couple of times in the early mornings, it only took a few minutes to heat the van which then stayed warm). It was roomy enough and the bed was very comfortable. We found it easier just to leave the bed down rather than folding it away and taking it out each day as we spent our days out and about rather than in the van. The little fridge and cooker were great for sorting breakfast and for coffee breaks. We had a great Honeymoon and will hire from Go Campervan again.  David & Jo, London

When my wife and I prepared to move forward our plan to buy a campervan, we were advised that you should always try before you buy! With this in mind, we decided to hire a campervan for a week and try out all aspects of the “campervan life”. We had previously seen the Go Campervan website and were impressed by the level of detail and friendly approach it offered. I contacted them and talked directly to the owner/operator, Kevin. He couldn’t have been more helpful and invited us to visit them and see for ourselves the campers available. During our visit he spent time to demonstrate the different types of campers available and also suggested the best style to suit two persons. This we did, and again the booking process was dealt with quickly and simply. So, the date arrived when we had arranged to collect the campervan. To save us driving there, Kevin even offered to meet me off the local Metro train system and drive us both to their HQ. He then spent an hour with me explaining in detail, how each element of the camper worked, together with many useful tips on campervan living. My wife & I set off on our first campervan adventure the following morning. As the driver, I found the vehicle was very easy to drive. The engine was more than capable of handling a larger than normal load and the power steering made manoeuvring a dream. We followed Kevin’s advised campervan speed limits and enjoyed the journey as part of the holiday. We arrived at our first destination in a couple of hours and as seasoned campers we were both very surprised how quickly it was to set up. From driving on to our allocated pitch, we were fully set up and having our first beer in under 15 minutes. This included all service hook ups, wind breaks, awning and seats. Over the course of the next couple of days we learned the pros and cons of campervan life. The pros far outweighing the cons. We enjoyed the outdoor life with the added bonus of the comfort, sound insulation and bug-free environment offered by the vehicle. We found the cooking of food and the cooling of drinks a couple of the major advantages. This campervan did not have the facility of a loo, but as we had always intended to use established camping sites, the facilities provided there created no problems whatsoever. Also, the sleeping arrangements were quick and simple to rearrange the seating area into a massive double bed. We had decided that because of the bed size, we would take a duvet, sheet and pillows. This made sleeping very comfortable indeed. Space inside was limited when the bed was made, but with only the two of us, a bit of planning ahead paid dividends. Our week continued with another journey from the Yorkshire Dales to the Peak District. On route we stopped at Holmfirth and despite my initial fears of narrow roads and small town car-parks, we found parking in the town and the local Supermarket no more difficult than with my car. One point to note. Throughout our week’s hire, we did not use the camper for trips out. Once we had set up on the pitch, the Campervan was used as our base. We had planned our sites to utilise local walks and amenities. When our hire was over and we returned the camper to Go Campervan, Kevin was again on hand to accept the vehicle and took the time to listen to our experiences. He gave us a lot of advice on the various types and style of campervans available as we continue to look into buying one. He even advised us on an excellent local pub where we headed next for our lunch. In summary, our experience using Go Campervan was faultless from start to finish. Many thanks to Kevin for all the assistance, advice and general help. Not only with the hire but also with our quest to purchase our own. We will continue with our long term task of buying but have already decided that if the right one to buy takes longer than anticipated, we will be calling Kevin again to arrange another hire.  Ian & Alison, Sunderland

GoCampervan review.  The campervan was great – well equipped with everything we could need and in excellent condition, ideal for exploring Northumberland even on the back roads. Being picked up and taken back to Newcastle airport made it a very relaxed holiday with no long drive to get there. Kevin was very friendly and helpful, explained everything clearly so we felt relaxed and had a great holiday. Would recommend both GoCampervan and Northumberland – it’s an amazing place!   Sally & Steve, Southampton

“GoCampervan provided use with an excellent service, friendly, informative and very helpful. We hired the 4-Berth which we found to be ideal for our needs. Slept a family of four comfortably and was a delight to drive. No fuss, hassles, just a totally pleasant hiring process from start to finish. We’d use GoCampervan again and would recommend to anyone. Helped us make some great family memories, and that’s the point!” Thank you.  Craig, Tyne & Wear

We found the whole experience fabulous. Everything was explained perfectly and we felt totally confident and at ease knowing that help, should we need it, was just a phone call away. The van was so comfortable and everything we needed was right there. I would gladly recommend gocampervan to anyone looking for a  holiday of that type, (I’ve already passed on your business card) as the service and whole experience was second to none. Thank you so much.  Tony and Shirley,  Tyne & Wear

The service from Gocampervan was simply faultless. From our initial enquiry to the day we returned the camper we found them very friendly and professional. A pleasure to deal with and our camper van trip was great fun too!  Paul & Jacqueline, Gateshead

“Just returned from a weekend at the Lakes with our Two children (aged 5,8), the van was fantastic and so versatile. It was a very wet weekend, but the van was kitted up perfectly for us all to get the most out of our adventure, 4 happy campers! Kevin was super helpful and went beyond the extra mile to put us at ease with hiring the van.” Andy & Amy, Newcastle

Dear Kevin, We are sending you some pictures. Some are with gocampervan, some are of the places where it brought us! You can use and share the ones you prefer. Thank you again for organising the van so nicely, with the fully equipped kitchen and the table and chairs for outside! It is really cosy and ready to start a journey, just need to bring clothes and sleeping bag! Really great :) We hope we will soon have the chance to spend another few days around with gocampervan!  Marta and Luciano,  Newcastle

Kevin & Susan. Luke and I just wanted to say a big thank for giving us ideas of places to visit on our first campervan holiday; we really appreciated all the tips. Alnwick Castle was a real highlight and the Northeast coast was so beautiful. We loved the campervan and it was so cosy at night-time, you certainly have thought of everything. We will certainly recommend you to all our friends. Clare & Luke, Cheshire

Thank you for organising everything for our first trial run at going on holiday in a campervan. It was a lovely week in a very well equipped van with all our requirements provided for. We found it easy to drive and manoeuvre around the country roads of the Northumbrian Coast. Kevin provided a very efficient and friendly service- a holiday to be recommended. Cath, North Yorkshire

Hi Kevin. We loved the campervan weekend with the kids and I would recommend your service to anyone who was considering hiring a campervan.  The campervan was well appointed with everything a family could need for a weekend away.  The handover and check in was well organised, detailed and professional ensuring we had all the information we needed to get the most out of our campervan experience.  Definitely better than a tent in the rain for October half term! Thanks again, Lydia. Northumberland

Kevin.  We had a fabulous four nights touring the Scottish Borders. The campervan is very cleverly designed so that even our small family didn’t feel cramped. Richard found it incredibly easy to drive, even though he’s never driven an automatic before. Kevin really has thought of everything and it would definitely be possible to turn up with nothing more than a sleeping bag and your essentials and drive. We found the van very economical to fuel and are so taken with the possibilities it could offer us in terms of future family holidays we’re looking into buying one. Our two year old loved every minute of it. My advice to anyone considering trying this type of holiday is to go for it and use gocampervan (you won’t regret it).  Marie, Richard & Isobel, Newcastle upon Tyne

Kevin,
Thanks for the prompt return of our deposit. We had a very enjoyable week thanks a lot to your help. We found the van was well prepared and equipped, we needed to add nothing except fuel. As it was our first time in a campervan we valued your introduction and the back up notes you provided. We would not hesitate to encourage anyone to use Gocampervan. Although I did take several photographs I’m afraid the definition on most is too high to send but I have found one taken at Bunree which may be of use. Arthur, Northumberland

We had a wonderful time with our two young children (4 and 6) in ‘Val’ for a week whilst we toured the North East and borders. We were extremely fortunate with the weather and our choice of campsites. Val had everything we needed although because we were staying in most places for one night only, we took a small tent to store our stuff rather than put the awning up. The awning was great when it was up and gave us lots of extra space. Kevin and Susan could not have been more accommodating when collecting us and explaining the details of how to operate Val. She went like a dream and the only comment would have been that having the heater (which we didn’t ask for, but I think is available) would have taken the edge off the evening chill. The van was immaculate on collection and straightforward to drive. We were really impressed with the service provided and we had a wonderful family holiday with lots of great memories.
Thanks to Kevin, Susan and Val for a great time.  Eleanor and Stuart. Berkshire.

Dear Kevin and Susan.

We would like to thank you for your friendly professional service we received when hiring your campervan. The campervan was excellent, easy to drive, and not to large for the narrow roads. We were also very impressed with the extras which were included in the price. Our grandchildren and ourselves had a lovely holiday. We appreciate how hassle free the hand over was and the instruction book for backup. AA cover and contact numbers aided a stress free holiday.
Thank you again. Ida , Harry, Lilly and Ebony. Lincolnshire

Hi Kevin & Susan at gocampervan, Had an excellent time in the campervan. This was our first experience of using a campervan and definitely will be a yearly event from now on. The campervan itself was immaculate and very well kitted out and more spacious than we expected for the 4 of us. Driving the campervan was very easy, just felt like driving an automatic car but a bit higher up and could park it in a normal parking space. The good thing about using a campervan is that you do not have to make plans, we knew which way we were heading and just stopped at places on the way. Would recommend this to anyone. Thanks again and we will definitely be in touch. Thanks again. The Philipson Family. Newcastle upon Tyne

Hi Kevin, review as promised.

We found this website by browsing for camper vans for hire and didn’t know what to expect, what we found in gocampervan was a breath of fresh air. Kevin the owner was not pushy and he was almost fully booked which meant they must be good. We got a brilliant camper at a very good cost for a week. The camper van was stunning inside and out and a great drive very comfortable, the set up ie beds etc was so easy to assemble and Kevin was very thorough for how things worked, everything you need for a campervan holiday was included in the van Films to watch on television, cutlery, washing up utensils etc. Kevin was very helpful throughout and even dropped off and picked the van up for us. I would strongly recommend this company for a brilliant and unforgettable camper van holiday. 10/10 Kind Regards Gary and Katherine.  Newcastle

Hi Kevin and Susan,

Driving off in one of Gocampervans Toyota HiAce camper vans mid March 2014, nostalgia hit me from the off – bringing back fond childhood memories when my family had a caravan: This was FUN as we headed to Kielder. We had beers in the fridge, enough sausages to feed a rugby team and an Aldi telescope for stargazing. This was a sweet drive – totally better than the classic VW campervan I’d once driven: the 2.8L diesel had plenty power, an auto box, it was comfortable and great visibly too. After a few refreshment / sight-seeing stops, we set up camp in one of Kielder’s well equipped camp-sites. Kevin must have had ‘Inspector Gadget’ training – as everything imaginable was provided in an organized and thoughtfully presented manner that you’d only anticipate seeing in a private holiday home and not in a rental campervan. We opted for a mains hook-up and WIFI connection then prepared our camp-site opening the vans fold-out side awning, and setting out deck chairs & table, and firing up our BBQ. We’d planned a trip to the pub, but the sky was so clear and vivid with stars that we’d opted to stay put and get the beers out and sausages cooking. Then focusing the ‘Aldiscope’ on the glowing half moon we were quickly convinced we’d all the entertainment we needed. And so the great outdoors, fire, food, beer, conversation, coupled with the majestic universe above us – quickly bought on the early hours. Then inside to the warmth and comfort of comfy beds, mains electric heating then country air, silence and darkness – we slept soundly. In the morning – we converted the beds back to seats, lit up the gas stove and soon the smell of bacon, eggs and filtered coffee smelled so good… We ate breakfast reflecting on the simple pleasures in life – before tidying up and commencing our journey back to reality. Totally recommended and can’t wait to do it again. Mark (Northumberland)

Question: How do you have a short break camping holiday in Northern Britain if you live in the South, and don’t want to endure two days on the English motorway system.
Answer: Fly to Newcastle Airport where you will be met by Kevin and Susan and introduced to one of their Toyota Camper vans. Within a short time you will be experiencing the light traffic, the scenic roads and the easily driven van.  We chose to spend two days in the Lake District and two days on the Northumberland coast, both at excellent campsites recommended by Susan. If you go in March (like us) make sure you get electricity at the sites, as you will probably need the efficient little electric heater in the van. Everything worked well, and we had a very relaxing break. At the end you hand the van back to Kevin at the Airport, get on your plane and fly south with your memories. If it is a fine day you can have fun spotting the queues on the motorways!  Highly recommended – thank you Kevin, Susan and Gocampervan!  Simon and Julie (Sussex).

Hi Kevin,
The van was very well equipped and had everything in that you would need. It was spotlessly clean when we picked it up.
It was comfortable and lovely to drive. Thanks for all your help; we would recommend your company to family and friends. David and Gillian.  Tyne & Wear

We really enjoyed our week in the van. It was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. We have never used a camper van before, but everything was explained and there were no problems. The automatic gearbox made driving very easy, and you get a great view of the scenery as you roll along. The size of the van made it possible to go down some roads that would be a problem in anything bigger, so if you want to explore the back roads, this is the van for you. Mick & Val.  Northumberland

Hi Kevin. We had a great few days get-away in the campervan. Just the right size for the two of us, really well equipped, and so easy to drive. Thanks for your helpful introduction to it all when we picked it up. Can really recommend both you and the van. Thanks . Barbara and Helen.  Hexham

Dear Kevin at Gocampervan,

We just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful experience and wish you every success with your company. If anyone is looking to rent a campervan, you have found a company who really cares about customer service right here. The campervan was so clean and a delight to travel in, spacious and very well designed. We particularly liked the fact that it was automatic and as you said, easy to drive. Thank you for spending so much time with us, explaining how everything worked. It was quite obvious you are passionate about what you do and it was nice to see. We had a great time and will recommend gocampervan to all. Ken and Wendy. Cheshire

Here is the promised review:
“We decided to hire a campervan and spend our honeymoon touring the UK. What a great idea! The sense of freedom was amazing and the camper itself (nicknamed by us Angel of the North) was a pleasure to drive, reliable, cosy, comfortable and very user-friendly for beginners like us. We covered 600 miles in six days, many of them off the beaten track, which gave us the opportunity to see some amazing scenery and wildlife.
Kevin and Susan offer a very professional, friendly service. We were given a very warm welcome as well as very practical, comprehensive instructions and advice.
We felt that they were very willing to go the extra mile to give their customers an excellent personal service.
Thank you both, we would recommend GoCampervan to anyone!  Mick and Jane. South Wales

So we finally made it back home to Brisbane. Scotland was just so beautiful and thank you guys or helping us out last minute. Thank you for all your travel tips and cups of tea, we loved Alnwick Castle and your wonderful coast. The campervan was just lovely and would definitely recommend your company gocampervan to anyone and everyone. We met loads of other vans but ours (yours) was by far the best. Mel & Rob. Brisbane,  Australia

Had a great time in the campervan Kevin, will recommend. Thanks for the advice on buying one. David.  Northumberland

Thanks Kevin for making our holiday so easy. I was nervous about driving a van but you assured me the automatic would be easy and it was. We had a great time doing what we wanted. My favourite moment was stopping by a loch in the middle of nowhere and drinking a cup of tea with the doors open. It was really comfortable and had everything we needed. Gemma & Dave, Gosforth.  Newcastle upon Tyne

This was our first campervan holiday and it won’t be the last. What a fantastic experience. Loved the campervan, loved the Scottish borders, will recommend. Thank you. Mel & Neil. Cumbria

Kevin at gocampervan came to our rescue at the last minute when we were let down by another company. Vernon our van – (so named by us because although maybe not so cool as the traditional VW vans, was very warm cosy, steady and reliable), carried us with no trouble, the 5″ wide bed was the most comfortable we have slept on in a van and the lay out was perfect for the shorter days of September – as was the TV. Vernon was very well equipped  although we did have to go out and buy wine and beer glasses, and we particularly liked the outdoor camping stove which enabled us to keep the van free of cooking smells in the evenings. Now when looking for our own van to buy we will definately consider a Toyota  – thanks Kevin , you saved the day. Stella and Ian Black.  Surrey

Hi Kevin. We really enjoyed  our weekend in the campervan, you had thought of everything to make it a comfortable experience.  The heater was great at night, your extra shelf was really useful and the instructions and step by step pictures for assembling the bed were invaluable. We really appreciated being snuggled up at night with the TV.  I found the van very easy to drive even though I had never driven anything bigger than a Passat!. Thanks again. Best wishes, Jo and Ian
