A family of four, we hired a campervan (Swift Select) for the first time and absolutely loved the experience. The whole process with GoCampervan was fantastic. The communication over the phone and by email beforehand was excellent, the van was immaculate and fully kitted out with everything you need. Kevin also spent plenty of time going through everything to ensure we felt totally prepared and confident as we set off. Kevin is very friendly and enthusiastic  – not just about his vans, but also about the North East, and he gave us loads of local advice, information and recommendations. “The very first moment I got in contact with Keith, I knew this is the company to go with. Very supportive and helpful Keith managed us through all difficulties one could have booking and coming from Germany. Flying into Manchester with a superb pick-up service and a detailed introduction of the luxurious campervan, my little daughter (5 years) and me took off to Robin Hood Bay at North Yorkshire Coast to collect my older daughter (15 years). Not familiar with Manchester’s rush hour and country roads in England I was so thankful Keith had provided some life savers in the van (bread, butter, marmelade and tea/coffee), which we enjoyed hours later. After two days at Robin Hood Bay, we drove on to Scotland to visit Edinburgh and later on Loch Ness. The girls and I had the time of our lifes togehter, enjoying a comfy (motor)home, the mobility to go where and when we wanted to and marveling at the beauty of the Highlands around us while driving. We enjoyed every moment and time seemed to slow down. Since everything worked like a charm we returned to Manchester full of new impressions and experiences. With a very warm welcome by Keith and his family we handed over the van and were chauffeured once again to the airport. Just returned from a tremendous weekend at Chatsworth, Derbyshire using a luxurious motor home from Gocampervan North West. We emerged blinking into the light from Newcastle station on my surprise birthday weekend. Outside, Kevin was standing by the campervan holding a set of keys. I had literally no idea. Secret: brilliantly kept. He drove us back to his office and spent much time explaining how to operate the vehicle safely. The vehicle was perfect for our needs. On the last day I had mislaid my iPad and not only did he located down the back of a folding table but also personally delivered it to the hotel where we were now staying. Kevin, you were brilliant. We are a family of 4 and with absolutely zero campervan experience however there was nothing to be concerned about, gocampervan had everything covered! Kevin was informative and extremely helpful from the first inquiring phone call to the wave good bye as we dropped off the van. We spent 3 nights in and around Kielder and couldn’t have had a better time. The campervan was equipped with everything you could need and more and Kevin had taken the time to show us how to use and make the best of the kit inside. There was even a DVD player and films supplied which made for a perfect will to chill before bed. We had an amazing adventure and might well have caught the campervan bug!! Renting a Go Camper Van has been the best decision for our 2 week Lake District vacation! Driving the van with its automatic gearbox is a real treat, even on somewhat steep and narrow mountain roads – and that’s coming from someone who’s used to drive a mini car on the right side of the road in mainland Europe! Setting up the Camper for eating and sleeping is really easy, too: after 1-2 days you really get the hang of it. It’s wonderful to have the opportunity of indoor and outdoor cooking, and everything you need for your daily meal preparations, siesta and good night’s sleep you’ll find somewhere in one of the camper’s many compartments. Speaking of sleep: once assembled, the bed is big and really comfy and, looking out of the window over the mountain landscape, feels like the most cozy space in the world. Apart from the camper van being the best, the whole service around it is top, too. Kevin made sure we really got to know the car before we drove off with many tips about camping, driving on UK roads and the Lake District in general. He picked us up at the train station, and brought us back to the airport when we returned 2 weeks later. “We were thinking of buying a campervan so decided to hire one first and were lucky to come across Gocampervan because Kevin and Sue have a wealth of experience to share. The Toyota Hiace Hi-top van we hired is very compact so once you get used to the automatic gears it’s easy to drive and manoeuvre round town or down country lanes.  Kevin gave us a thorough demonstration of how everything works and you know he’s at the end of the phone if you need advice.  The van is well kitted out with everything you need, a little home on wheels. There’s also a small TV and heater for those cold wet nights (like we had, but it was April) or picnic table and chairs, awning and outdoor cooking stove for when the sun shines (we didn’t get to use them this trip!).  Space inside is naturally a little tight so you have to be well organised but that’s half the fun of the adventure.” Regards, Ruth and Nigel. This was our first campervan experience but certainly won’t be our last. The van was easy to drive and simple to use with ingenious space saving equipment and everything needed was provided.  The kids loved the sense of adventure and loved sleeping ‘up-top’.  We hired a Hi-top camper van for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time in the lakes and Northumberland coastline. Hi Kevin. A short review of our trip. This was our first experience of both camper van life and Northumberland, and the combination worked very well indeed. I think we made a good choice in hiring from Gocampervan. The whole process was easy and Kevin couldn’t have been more generous with his time and advice. After a smooth ride up on the train we were picked up from Newcastle station and whisked out of town to his base. After an efficient but thorough introduction to the van that would be our home for the next week we were off.  Easy to drive and well equipped the van itself was a joy. All the campsites were good, each with their particular strengths, and again, booking was easy. Northumberland is simply gorgeous, and we encountered open, friendly people everywhere we went. Thanks Kevin and Susan for a brilliant few days away in your hightop campervan. Particular thanks to Kevin for battling against the odds to get the van ready on time. We really enjoyed our holiday, despite the compact space we soon organised ourselves and learned the ‘campervan dance’ as we called it. The girls loved the space up top, being outdoors all day and then snuggling in bed after tea and watching a bit of a film before we went to sleep. It was a great introduction to campervanning for us, the van was spotless and everything in the van had been well considered making it easy to use and keep clean. My wife and I couldn’t be happier with the help and service we got from Kevin as well as the van we got from Go Campervan. We got married in August and hired a campervan for our Honeymoon as my wife wanted to visit the borders. We hired the smaller Citroën van which was ideal as there was only the two of us and I thought it would be easier to drive than the larger van. The van was great to drive and looked and felt like new with some added extras; it had upgraded rear suspension and a fantastic heating system installed by the owner (although we only used it a couple of times in the early mornings, it only took a few minutes to heat the van which then stayed warm). It was roomy enough and the bed was very comfortable. We found it easier just to leave the bed down rather than folding it away and taking it out each day as we spent our days out and about rather than in the van. The little fridge and cooker were great for sorting breakfast and for coffee breaks. We had a great Honeymoon and will hire from Go Campervan again.  David & Jo.  London

When my wife and I prepared to move forward our plan to buy a campervan, we were advised that you should always try before you buy! With this in mind, we decided to hire a campervan for a week and try out all aspects of the “campervan life”. We had previously seen the Go Campervan website and were impressed by the level of detail and friendly approach it offered. I contacted them and talked directly to the owner/operator, Kevin. He couldn’t have been more helpful and invited us to visit them and see for ourselves the campers available. During our visit he spent time to demonstrate the different types of campers available and also suggested the best style to suit two persons. This we did, and again the booking process was dealt with quickly and simply. So, the date arrived when we had arranged to collect the campervan. To save us driving there, Kevin even offered to meet me off the local Metro train system and drive us both to their HQ. He then spent an hour with me explaining in detail, how each element of the camper worked, together with many useful tips on campervan living. My wife & I set off on our first campervan adventure the following morning. As the driver, I found the vehicle was very easy to drive. The engine was more than capable of handling a larger than normal load and the power steering made manoeuvring a dream. We followed Kevin’s advised campervan speed limits and enjoyed the journey as part of the holiday. We arrived at our first destination in a couple of hours and as seasoned campers we were both very surprised how quickly it was to set up. From driving on to our allocated pitch, we were fully set up and having our first beer in under 15 minutes. This included all service hook ups, wind breaks, awning and seats. Over the course of the next couple of days we learned the pros and cons of campervan life. The pros far outweighing the cons. We enjoyed the outdoor life with the added bonus of the comfort, sound insulation and bug-free environment offered by the vehicle. We found the cooking of food and the cooling of drinks a couple of the major advantages. This campervan did not have the facility of a loo, but as we had always intended to use established camping sites, the facilities provided there created no problems whatsoever. Also, the sleeping arrangements were quick and simple to rearrange the seating area into a massive double bed. We had decided that because of the bed size, we would take a duvet, sheet and pillows. This made sleeping very comfortable indeed. Space inside was limited when the bed was made, but with only the two of us, a bit of planning ahead paid dividends. Our week continued with another journey from the Yorkshire Dales to the Peak District. On route we stopped at Holmfirth and despite my initial fears of narrow roads and small town car-parks, we found parking in the town and the local Supermarket no more difficult than with my car. One point to note. Throughout our week’s hire, we did not use the camper for trips out. Once we had set up on the pitch, the Campervan was used as our base. We had planned our sites to utilise local walks and amenities. When our hire was over and we returned the camper to Go Campervan, Kevin was again on hand to accept the vehicle and took the time to listen to our experiences. He gave us a lot of advice on the various types and style of campervans available as we continue to look into buying one. He even advised us on an excellent local pub where we headed next for our lunch. In summary, our experience using Go Campervan was faultless from start to finish. Many thanks to Kevin for all the assistance, advice and general help. Not only with the hire but also with our quest to purchase our own. We will continue with our long term task of buying but have already decided that if the right one to buy takes longer than anticipated, we will be calling Kevin again to arrange another hire.  Ian & Alison. Kevin.  We had a fabulous four nights touring the Scottish Borders. The campervan is very cleverly designed so that even our small family didn’t feel cramped. Richard found it incredibly easy to drive, even though he’s never driven an automatic before. Kevin really has thought of everything and it would definitely be possible to turn up with nothing more than a sleeping bag and your essentials and drive. We found the van very economical to fuel and are so taken with the possibilities it could offer us in terms of future family holidays we’re looking into buying one. We had a wonderful time with our two young children (4 and 6) in ‘Val’ for a week whilst we toured the North East and borders. We were extremely fortunate with the weather and our choice of campsites. Val had everything we needed although because we were staying in most places for one night only, we took a small tent to store our stuff rather than put the awning up. The awning was great when it was up and gave us lots of extra space. Kevin and Susan could not have been more accommodating when collecting us and explaining the details of how to operate Val. She went like a dream and the only comment would have been that having the heater (which we didn’t ask for, but I think is available) would have taken the edge off the evening chill. The van was immaculate on collection and straightforward to drive. We were really impressed with the service provided and we had a wonderful family holiday with lots of great memories.

We really enjoyed our week in the van. It was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. We have never used a camper van before, but everything was explained and there were no problems. The automatic gearbox made driving very easy, and you get a great view of the scenery as you roll along. Kevin at gocampervan came to our rescue at the last minute when we were let down by another company. Vernon our van – (so named by us because although maybe not so cool as the traditional VW vans, was very warm cosy, steady and reliable), carried us with no trouble, the 5″ wide bed was the most comfortable we have slept on in a van and the lay out was perfect for the shorter days of September – as was the TV. Vernon was very well equipped  although we did have to go out and buy wine and beer glasses, and we particularly liked the outdoor camping stove which enabled us to keep the van free of cooking smells in the evenings.
